The Beatles: Across the Universe (Imaginantes)

Across the Universe es una canción de The Beatles compuesta por John Lennon en 1968 e incluida primero en el álbum No One's Gonna Change Our World (1969) y luego en Let It Be (álbum) (1970).

The Beatles tan sólo grabaron Across the Universe una vez y luego se editaron dos versiones, ambas contienen elementos no deseados que fueron añadidos en el proceso de producción. La canción se grabó en febrero de 1968, pero por varias razones (John no estaba totalmente convencido con el resultado) permaneció inédita hasta 1969, cuando el álbum del WWF "No One is Gonna Change Our World" fue lanzado. Esta es la versión que aparece en el Past Masters 2. Sonidos de pájaros fueron añadidos a la canción para dicho lanzamiento (sonidos que no incluyeron The Beatles) y además se aceleró la canción medio tono. La transmisión fue realizada usando una antena de 70m en el DSN's Madrid Deep Space Communication Complex, localizado en las afueras de Madrid, España. Y fue hecho con un transmisor "X band", proporcionando a la antena 18 KW.

Esto fue hecho a fin de celebrar el 40º aniversario de la canción, el 45º aniversario de la Deep Space Network (DSN), y el 50º aniversario de la NASA. Maharishi Mahesh Yogui fue un gurú religioso de la India, fundador del movimiento Meditación Trascendental, con presencia en numerosos países de América, Europa y Asia.

Across the Universe is a Beatles song composed by John Lennon in 1968 and listed first in the album No One's Gonna Change Our World (1969) and then Let It Be (album) (1970).

Recorded only Beatles Across the Universe once and then released two versions, both contain unwanted items that were added in the production process. The song was recorded in February 1968, but for various reasons (John was not completely satisfied with the outcome) remained unpublished until 1969, when WWF album "No One is Gonna Change Our World" was released. This is the version that appears in the Past Masters 2. Sounds of birds were added to the song to such a pitch (sounds which did not include The Beatles) and also picked up the song a half step. Phil Spector used the original 1968 film to superimpose a choir and an orchestra for the album Let It Be, although the song was slowed down even below the original rate. So none of the two versions is played at the original speed.


The first version found in the compilation "Past Masters, Two" which includes the sounds of birds and it is remarkable that is faster than that found in Let It Be.


Transmission into outer space

On February 5, 2008, at 00:00 UTC, NASA broadcast "Across The Universe" towards Polaris, which lies 431 light years from Earth. The transmission was performed using a 70m antenna in the DSN's Madrid Deep Space Communication Complex, located on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. And it was done with a transmitter "X band" by providing antenna 18 KW.

This was done to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song, the 45th anniversary of the Deep Space Network (DSN) and the 50th anniversary of NASA. The idea was conceived by Beatles historian Martin Lewis, who invited all Beatles fans to play the song as if it were to be sent to a distant star. This is the second time that a piece of music has been intentionally transmitted into outer space (the first interstellar message: "1st Theremin Concert to Aliens"), and was adopted by Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, and Apple Records.
